No Distractions

Have you ever been rolling along serving God, doing what you know to do and suddenly you find yourself distracted by the things of the world? Your walk with God seems to take a back seat. In Galatians 5 it says some pretty powerful words “You did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?” I wonder how many of us know that if the enemy can’t STOP us from serving God, He will DISTRACT us from the things of His kingdom. What kind of distractions? Anything that gets our mind off of God and onto the things of this world. We may be doing exactly what God wants and suddenly we get a call from someone asking us to get involved in another area. That’s a distraction. Or maybe you get caught up in someone else’s drama. Yes, another distraction. You may even be asked to do something that’s a good thing. But good things are not always God things. They may be just another way the enemy can slow you down. Here’s a thought: Satan’s assignment is to use distractions to keep us from reaching our destiny. Before the beginning of time, God…

Time to Go

Have you ever found yourself in a place where you can see the exit, you know it’s time to leave but you can’t make that first step? That’s why there are times when God shuts AND locks that door for the final time! For some of us, we’re left wondering what just happened and why did He made us leave! The answer is simple: We were in the wrong place and He had to get us OUT in order to take us IN…IN to the place we were meant to be!

Nothing Can Trip You

In I Peter 5:8, the Scripture says to “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour”. Pay attention to what’s happening around you. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but this old world is pretty rough. And Satan is pretty sneaky! It is his goal every day to catch you off guard. He has an assignment to stir you up and bring frustration, confusion and turmoil. Then he wants you to join in with the rest of the world when it talks negative and sounds hopeless. Failing to pay attention to what Satan is doing is like walking around with your shoe laces untied. You don’t notice them until you get tripped up. In Psalm 139 it says: I said to myself, “I will watch what I do and not sin in what I say. I will hold my tongue when the ungodly are around me.” So today, when you go through the day, guard your heart and when you hear unkind words, move in an opposite spirit and speak kindness. If you see hate then counter it with love. When chaos hits, fight it with peace. Every…

How do You Speak?

We all want our voices to be heard! We just need to make sure that we know the difference between speaking up with intention and speaking up for attention! Wisdom flows through those who think about their words. But foolishness sides with attention seekers!

Train Up a Child

In the book of Proverbs, it says “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Did you notice it says train up not raise up? We raise dogs but train children. We give dogs love, food, water and shelter and that’s great but children require so much more. They need to feel safe, loved and valuable. They need to know who God is and what place He has in their life. God told the Israelites to obey His Words but then He took it a little further. In Deuteronomy 6, it says “ You shall teach them (His Words) diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” It’s easier to build strong children than repair broken men. We build children by speaking words of life both over them and to them. Children need to know that God loves them unconditionally. Whether it’s good or bad, children get their idea of who God is by watching you. They need to hear they’re special, smart, loved, funny, kind;…
