Luck of the Irish

Luck of the Irish? Don’t need it! If we are a blood bought, born again believer, we do NOT rely on luck…whether it’s Irish or any other kind! We don’t rely on a rabbit’s foot, a lucky horseshoe, or a four leaf clover! We walk by faith and in doing so, we recognize the hand of God in our life. Luck has nothing to do with it. Let’s give credit where credit is due. We are on a path that God has laid down for us and I’m pretty sure it’s not covered with four leaf clovers! Nope, it’s covered with blessings

His Desires Become Our Desires

Hallmark Channel made a statement: If you love someone, you end up wanting what they want. I’ve pondered on that…I was thinking about our relationship with Jesus. In that case, I really do believe the more time we spend with Him and the more we grow to love Him, His wants and desires really do become what we want in our own life. Part of laying down “self” isn’t about “giving up” the things we love, it’s about wanting to “pick up” the things He loves. His desires become our desires.

Touch is Vital

Touch is so important. If you ask someone who has lost a loved one, they will tell you one of the things they miss most is their touch. A wife loves the touch of her husband, babies respond to touch and begin to thrive, even our pets love our touch. But the most important touch we can receive comes from God Himself. When we settle our hearts and sit with Him and we feel His presence surrounding us…what a blessing. “Touch” tells us we are loved and accepted. So today, reach out and touch someone!

Permanent Decision

Don’t make a permanent decision in a temporary storm. Sometimes in order to step out of the pain and turn our thoughts elsewhere, we make major life decisions. In the middle of a storm, it’s very difficult to hear from God. Our eyes are on the storm instead of on Him. And without His direction we will falter and make wrong choices. Sometimes the best thing we can do is ride out the storm, keep turning our eyes back to Him and know that this is a temporary pain.

No Straddling the Fence

Straddling the fence, trying to make everybody else happy results in one thing. We’re miserable! And the people we’re trying to please aren’t happy either. Straddling the fence…never stepping one direction or the other for fear of offending someone is just plain exhausting. We have only ONE that we have to please and that’s God. Oh, and one more benefit from pleasing God is that we’re going to get a great night’s sleep! No more worrying about how to climb on that fence.

Get Closer to God

During the storm the other night, my little dog Chewy came looking for me. She jumped up in bed and shook like a leaf. But I know her routine. After about 15 minutes of shaking, she will walk over my head and pillows and crawl under the covers. Then she will back up against me and touch me..but she won’t let Me touch HER. If I reach for her, she runs. As I’ve been watching this happen through the years, God began to speak to me. Chewy is like a lot of people that want to get …a little closer to God when the storm is raging. But they won’t let Him comfort them or touch them. They want God on their terms. They prefer to worry and shake instead of trusting Him! Sometimes we just need to curl up next to God and let Him cover us completely…like a warm blanket. And we need to stop that crazy shaking and worrying. I’m pretty sure we would call that a place of peace and trust.
