Listen or Not

Everyone has a right to their opinion BUT we have every right not to listen to it. If we followed every voice that speaks into our lives, we would live in a state of total confusion. People love to tell you how to raise your kids, pick out your clothes, and decide what and where you should go on any given day. We have only one voice that we need to be listening to…that voice belongs to Jesus.

Our Generation

There’s a verse in Acts 13:36a that’s powerful…”For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation”… every generation has to fulfill God’s plan for their lives. We aren’t supposed to be like our parents or our mentors. They had their own God given purpose. We have to follow God for ourselves. When we are walking in the path He laid down for us, then we are an “original” and we will walk in an anointing and be empowered for every task ahead. So be yourself!

God Walks Ahead

We all know that worrying doesn’t take away the troubles of tomorrow. But do you know it steals the peace we could have had today? If our stomach is in knots and our mind is consumed with the troubles that surround us, it’s a pretty good sign that we don’t trust God in this situation. I heard Joel Osteen talking about a missionary who was riding a horse on a very narrow path. When they came to a turn, the horse refused to go any further. So the missionary peeked around the turn and sure enough, there was a huge snake in the middle of the road curled up in the sun with his head under a small rock…The missionary was afraid and didn’t know what to do. He stood there for a long time, afraid to step forward. Finally, he found the biggest rock he could find and threw it towards the snake. He missed the snake but it didn’t move. He realized that the snake was already dead. Someone walking on this path before him had hit the snake in the head and killed it. That’s what God has done for you and me. He’s walked the…

Outside Looking In

Do you ever feel like you’re on the outside looking in….Like everybody else seems to be involved in life but you’re not quite there so you have a tendency to hide in the background and go through the motions? The enemy has you exactly where he wants you…sitting in a place of fear. Fear of rejection. Fear of failure. Fear of making a fool of yourself. But the root of the problem is fear. Talk to Jesus and ask Him to show you the steps He wants you to take to come out of that place! Don’t let the enemy keep you in bondage. Jesus came that you might walk in an abundant life.

Green Eggs and Ham

God has a way of taking the ordinary and speaking very clearly to our hearts. My son was watching Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss with our grandson, Jude. As he listened, God began to speak to him: “Would you serve me on a boat! Would you serve me while feeding your goat? Would you show my love in the rain? And in the dark? And maybe on a train? How about in your car or while cutting a tree? I am so good, so good, you see! Do not put me in a box. Show my love to whoever knocks. I want you to serve me outside of your house. And I will bless you and your spouse. I want you to serve me here and there. I want you to show my love everywhere!” Something to think about I’d say!

Memories

”Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Beautiful words. But they are more than just words. The heartache is real and even though it lessens with time, the memory will always be there. We can keep looking at what we’ve lost or joy in the memories of our time with them. Tucked within those memories is love…wonderful, terrific, unwavering love. Keep those memories tucked away for a day when it seems you can’t move forward. Praying Jesus draw especially close to you today.
