Green Eggs and Ham
God has a way of taking the ordinary and speaking very clearly to our hearts. My son was watching Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss with our grandson, Jude. As he listened, God began to speak to him: “Would you serve me on a boat! Would you serve me while feeding your goat? Would you show my love in the rain? And in the dark? And maybe on a train? How about in your car or while cutting a tree? I am so good, so good, you see! Do not put me in a box. Show my love to whoever knocks. I want you to serve me outside of your house. And I will bless you and your spouse. I want you to serve me here and there. I want you to show my love everywhere!” Something to think about I’d say!
Memories
”Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Beautiful words. But they are more than just words. The heartache is real and even though it lessens with time, the memory will always be there. We can keep looking at what we’ve lost or joy in the memories of our time with them. Tucked within those memories is love…wonderful, terrific, unwavering love. Keep those memories tucked away for a day when it seems you can’t move forward. Praying Jesus draw especially close to you today.
Laugh a Lot
I don’t care who you are, where you come from or what you look like, make me laugh and I’ll be your friend forever! The Bible says “Laughter doeth good like a medicine”. Look around you and you’ll see a lot to laugh about…probably you could look at yourself and laugh about some crazy thing you just did…like look for your phone while using it to talk to someone. I wouldn’t know about that one personally! Okay, maybe just a few times I might have done that! Laugh today…it’s good for you!
Learn a Lesson
”The past is where we learned the lesson. The future is where we apply the lesson. We can’t give up in the middle.” So many trials teach us something valuable but we can feel overwhelmed in the process. Life is hard and certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. But we have to hold on to the thought that God is working behind the scenes and He will bring good out of all things. AND know this, what we learn in the first trial will be used in our future and we’ll be glad we know how to handle it the second time around.
Givers and Takers
”Givers have to learn to set limits because takers don’t have any”. Remember the scripture that says “don’t let your right hand know what your left hand is doing”? We all know that we aren’t supposed to wave our tithe in the air for all to see…but there’s so much more in that verse. Many times, God will have us give secretly instead of handing money to someone. It’s very easy for that person to use us as their source. That place is reserved for God alone! We have to be careful that we don’t step into that position!!
Rage Be Gone!
Rage, the silent killer…it kills dreams, lives, relationships, job opportunities. Rage that’s tucked down so deep inside, we don’t even want to admit we have it. This may surprise you, but those who know us well know exactly what’s brewing under the surface. It’s just a matter of time before something crosses our path that angers us or offends us…then here comes the rage spewing all over everything and everybody. Then we have to either pretend like it didn’t happen or go about apologizing. It’s an exhausting way to live. It’s time…time to ask God to show you the root of your anger and rage…it can be insecurity, a control issue, failure to get what you want or feel entitled to… and the list goes on and on. When you see what’s causing the problem, then God can begin the healing process
