Do Your Best
Never stop doing your best just because someone doesn’t give you credit. This isn’t between them and you. It’s between you and God. I must admit that it’s easier to plow through a job when you get pats on the back and big smiles from the boss…and it’s really great if the paycheck shows how awesome they think you are. But I guarantee you that God is watching everything you do and your reward will be way better than man can give you.
The Cause of Christ
Work for the “cause” of Christ not for the “applause” of people. Whatever we do, we do for Him, and Him alone. I know it feels good if the world showers us with attention and adoration. But God says He won’t share His glory with man. We have to be careful that what we do isn’t done for a pat on the back or a round of applause. We just do it for the One we love and one day we will hear “Well done thou good and faithful servant…enter in to the joys of the Lord”. And on that day, you will hear the applause of Heaven in those very words.
Close Doors
Close some doors. They simply don’t take you where you need to go. Are your habits helping you or hindering you in your walk with God? Are your friends a good influence or do you find yourself going backward when you’re around them? Are your thoughts positive and uplifting or is your mind full of negative thinking? Doors come in all shapes and sizes. Some of them need to be left open and others closed. God will show you what to do.
Decide Early
If you had a chance to keep money that didn’t belong to you but nobody would ever know, what would you do? Let me also throw this in the scenario: you are really strapped for money. Before we get in a situation like that, we have to make up our minds that no matter what, we will follow Jesus and make wise choices. If we don’t have a made up mind, our decisions will be based on emotions. It’s important that we always do what is right, even when it’s not easy.
It’s Your Journey
Sometimes people in your life won’t understand your journey. However, we need to remember that this isn’t their journey, it’s yours. You’re the one who’s lived in your shoes…you’ve walked through hard times and good times, you’ve heard the voice of God in the night, and you know the path that God has you on. Other people can mean well but they only have THEIR life experiences to go by. They can give you opinions and advice but when it’s all said and done, it’s your life and your walk.
Be a Positive Polly
A negative mind will never give you a positive life. No matter how much you want to live differently, nothing will change until you let God transform your mind….re-program you from a Negative Nellie to a Positive Polly. Nellie lives in fear, doubt and unbelief. Polly walks by faith. Nellie sees what she CAN’T do instead of what she can. Nellie also sees life as one big challenge instead of one big opportunity. We need more Polly’s in this world (or Paul’s). Want to know which one you are? Listen to yourself talk for one day…are you positive or negative? Listen carefully. You might just find out something you didn’t know.
