Beethoven was terrified that he would become totally deaf and be unable to write beautiful music. But what he feared the most happened. He became totally deaf. And then an amazing thing happened. He began to write the best music of his life. Why? Because in the total silence with no distractions, he began to hear the music playing in his heart.
